Today, we were pleased to give an introduction to our open science activities at the University of Lübeck for medical students working on the medical doctorate (as part of the Seminar zu Promotion und Wissenschaftlichkeit in Studium und Praxis (ProWiSP)). With a smile, we started to provide a brief introduction into the recent reproducibility crisis in empirical sciences by describing the famous attempts to replicate classic findings on the facial feedback hypothesis. We then broadened the perspective to the empirical biomedical sciences and clinical trials. At the end, we gave an overview over our activities and efforts to establish open science practices at the University of Lübeck.
We thank the students for their interest and the discussions at the end. This is certainly a topic that could be taught even more deeply.
